Estimated Read Time
At the top of blog posts we expect to see an estimated read time. With the rise of video, users are expecting their content quicker and more succinct. We also expect that many users will base whether or not they want to read your blog post based on this piece of information
We expect to see websites become interactive again. This trends pops up and disappears more than polo necks but in 2017 we expect to see sleek user interactivity in website design again.
Micro Interactions are used all the time right now but we think there will be more. With more and more emjoi iconography becoming prevalent in web design and specifically blogs we expect to see thisbleed out into the wider landscape as brands adopt more micro interactions to keep users engaged.
Scroll Triggered Animations
We think that in 2017 you’ll see more animation popping up in your browser as you hover over specific icons on the page. It's a pretty good way of displaying information without overload the look of the webpage.
The Death of the Carousel
In 2017 we think the carousel will be replaced by sleeker and more modern designs. Sorry carousels it was good while it lasted.
More information will be based in the footer in 2017 keeping the information users want to see at the top and keeping the important stuff at the bottom.
Borders are Back
We think websites will start to adopt full borders to pages again. Keeping things neat like social bars and menu items tucked into the borders allowing the body of the page to change and borders do what borders do best.
In 2017 we think we will see more abstract designs appear pushing the geometry trends of 2016 out the weird shaped windows.
With images playing such a vital part in web design we think you will start to see the subtle uses of drop shadows in web design to help separate backgrounds from images.
